The Glass Cottage

This turn of the century half-steamer trunk is dated approximately 1870 - 1885 was formerly canvas covered and has now been restored exposing the pine wood boards with hardwood slats in a deep, rich tone enriched by Tung Oil applications.

Exterior Measurements: 28" L x 17 1/2" W x 12" H.

All wood has been cleaned, and then treated with six (6) coats of Tung Oil including the interior.

All original hardware including end caps, slat clamps, and hasps have been thoroughly cleaned and treated with a brass application and coated with satin clear enamel. All tin trim has been rustproofed painted in satin black. Trunks nails have been replaced where necessary to tighten parts.

New custom leather handles, 8 1/2" x 1 1/4", have been added with new decorative style brass plated caps. Also added are custom leather straps and stap tabs with antique brass tacks.

The metal portion of the bottom has been painted satin black with an anti-rust paint and the hardwood slats were finished in Tung Oil.
